Well NO fear here, just a support group that will be by your side and maybe even hold your hand if needed.
What’s acupuncture? It’s a centuries old healing modality originating in China. Some of it is still a mystery even today. The Chinese believe that Chi (energy) runs through the body on certain pathways called meridians. At times throughout your life the Chi may get stuck or blocked at points in the body from injury, scar tissue, disease or just plain everyday stress. It’s analogous to a stream in nature that gets blocked by silt, tree limbs or stone and starts to back up. In this stagnant water you’ll find a cesspool where dead animals may be decomposing, mosquitos and other insects breed and begin nurseries and a whole unhealthy eco-system begins to flourish. It may take a storm or wild animal to step in and create an opening and then the stream flows effortlessly once again. This natural flow of water cleans the stream.
Basically the acupuncture needles are what create an opening in the backed up energy in your body and trigger a healthy flow just like in the stream. Once the body’s Chi is flowing naturally again healing happens!
Oh but what about those needles? Very small-gauge, stainless steel needles are used by the trained practitioner and most people don’t even know they are in until they look over and see this skinny thing sticking up from their body. Seriously, most people don’t even feel it.
But in some instances you might feel a prick, and that’s a big “might”. We should count ourselves lucky because the early Chinese let their healers use stone and bone needles on their body.
There is a monthly event at modify that is a group acupuncture session that gently introduces you to the process and merits of this ancient healing practice. The fee is minimal and it’s a great opportunity to check it out in the comfort and safety of like-minded health conscious individuals.
